Independent Study Physical Education (ISPE)
Students who participate in organized physical activities that involve state or national
competition or performance may be exempted from the Los Gatos-Saratoga Joint Union High
School District physical education/sports classes if they enroll and are accepted into the District-approved Independent Study Physical Education Program (ISPE). This program is authorized under Governing Board Policies 6015 and 6016, and managed by The District ISPE Committee.
Students wishing to start their ISPE sport at the beginning of the semester must submit a completed ISPE application to the Guidance Office before the first day of the semester.
Fall term 2023-24 applications are due on or before Wednesday, August 16, 2023. Send completed applications via email or drop off in the main school office during regular hours, Attn: Registrar.
The completed application must include:
1) signatures of the student, parent, and authorized supervision coach or agency
2) documented evidence of participation in state or national or international competitions or performances
After administrative review, students are formally notified of the decision, usually by the 2nd or 3rd week of the term.

Program Documents
Approved students: To obtain Spring course credit, the completed and signed Spring 22-23 Activity log must be returned no later than noon Friday, June 2, 2023.
