Learn About the School and Community

There are dozens of informal ways to gather information and get to know more about the neighborhood, district and school.  Some ideas:

Events on campus (drama, music, debates, tournaments, etc).

Sporting events.

School booster organizations.

Parent/Teacher/Student Organization (PTSO) meetings.

School board meetings.

Public reports and analysis.

Saratoga City Council.

Most of these resources are free and available year-round, with event schedules posted on the school, district or organization website.

Campus Tours

The school campus is typically closed to visitors during school hours.  However a few times a year we offer a guided campus tour to parents and students new to the area and/or the school.

Campus Tour Dates for Potential New Student Families

CAMPUS TOURS ARE CANCELLED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

There is a presentation about the school followed by a campus tour.  Total duration about 75 minutes.

Please let us know which date you plan to attend, how many people are in your party, and what school your student(s) currently attend.  RSVP to shstourrsvp@lgsuhsd.org

On the date of your tour, please arrive a few minutes early and come to the main office (Administration building) to get a visitor's pass.

Student Shadow Day

As a courtesy to new students coming from outside the school district, Saratoga High School offers the ability for prospective students to “shadow” a current SHS student and attend classes with them.

Based on information parents provide in the Shadow Day application, SHS Guidance attempts to match the prospective student to a current student volunteer with similar interests, and verifies with the teachers that the planned curriculum for the Shadow Day is appropriate for a campus visitor.

Important Notes

1) Parent must agree that SHS will not be held liable for the visiting student’s well-being while on campus.
2) Shadow days may be 1/2 day or full day.
3) Shadow appointments may be scheduled October through April during the school year.
4) Parent is responsible for timely drop-off at the start of the day and student pick-up at the end of the day.

To request an application for a Shadow Day, contact shstourrsvp@lgsuhsd.org.  In your message, include a) the name of your student, b) student's next grade, and c) that you are requesting a shadow day application.
