Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley in San Jose. Unpaid on-the-job learning opportunity for dedicated, hard-working individuals interested in wildlife rehab. Applicants must be 16+. Accepted interns will be on-site for three days per week for 12 weeks, and are expected to attend discussion groups every other week. Interns will work closely with Animal Care staff and receive instruction on all aspects of Wildlife Rehabilitation: examination, medication, wound care, treatment, housing, and diet. We understand most high school summer breaks are only 10 weeks long; while we are unable to make significant schedule accommodations due to the nature of the internship, we can work with exceptional applicants. Duke: Summer Workshop in Math (SWiM). SWiM is a free workshop for rising high school seniors who are interested in mathematics, with a particular focus on advancing female participation in math. SWiM is particularly interested in increasing diversity in mathematics and in science and technology opportunities more broadly, so SWiM strongly encourages students to apply who are female or gender minorities who are in their junior year of high school. An extremely rigorous, non-stop, fast-paced college course that introduces students to the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary for successfully linking technology and management concepts in just three weeks.
