"Some stories are true that never happened."
- Elie Wiesel
In the 21st century, our students live in an information society where they are constantly being bombarded by ideas, opinions, and stories. In order to navigate this world successfully, students need to be able to analyze the messages that are constantly being sent their way, to articulate their own viewpoints in a succinct and powerful manner, and to creatively express their own stories.
The English Department at Saratoga High aims to challenge our students to think deeply by asking them to connect a diverse array of literature to issues that are relevant to the world today, to inspire them to develop their own ideas, and to teach them methods to communicate those ideas effectively.
