SHS Foundation
The goal of the Saratoga High School Foundation is to enhance the educational environment for students by funding large capital projects, such as technology, campus beautification and facilities renovations. To meet this goal, the SHS Foundation raises funds through parent and community donations, and evaluates school and teacher grant requests. Grant requests are judged based on pre-established criteria encompassing educational application, existing technology, and projected future viability. Grants are funded by the SHSF Board after careful consideration of the school’s technology and facility site plans, and in cooperation with the school district.

Over the last three years, the SHS Foundation has raised over $250,000, which has funded the following:

• Landscape renovations in the main quad
• State of the art projection systems in classrooms
• Technology improvements in the library
• New digital photography lab, which was installed in August 2009
• McAfee Performing Arts center improvements

What are staff and students at Saratoga High School saying about the recent improvements?

“The projection systems throughout the school have had a direct impact on what teachers teach and how they teach. Six years ago when we had only two teacher-made projection systems, only a handful of teachers were integrating the internet, Powerpoint, and digital video clips into their classrooms.” - Matt Torrens, Saratoga HS Teacher

“Technology improvements in the library have revolutionized how we teach Social Studies. Due to the many electronic databases, the Geography class will scrap the textbook. By going text-bookless, every freshman will rely solely on the electronic resources of the library to get our information.” - Karen Hyde, Vice Principal
